Shipping a Car From Georgia to Kansas
Atlanta to Kansas City is about 800 miles, through Nashville and St. Louis on I-24, I-64, and I-70. Fort Riley is closer to 940, and Wichita is around 975. It's two to three days of driving.
This is one of the busiest Army routes out of Georgia. Soldiers move between Fort Stewart's 3rd Infantry Division and Fort Riley's 1st Infantry Division, and officers head from Fort Gordon and Fort Stewart to the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. We also ship for aviation workers moving between Savannah and Wichita, and families relocating to Overland Park.

Timing
When to Ship Georgia to Kansas
PCS season and Plains weather drive this route.
Summer PCS Season
May through August is the peak for Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth moves. CGSC classes start in summer. Book as soon as you have orders.
Tornado Alley
Kansas sits right in it. From April into June, drivers pull over for warnings and pick back up once cells pass, which can add a few hours.
Flint Hills Wind
Strong crosswinds on I-70 and the Turnpike in winter and early spring can slow loaded trailers. Plan for a little cushion.
Wheat Harvest
Late June and early July put slow farm equipment on rural Kansas roads. Interstate deliveries aren't affected.
Pricing
How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Car From Georgia to Kansas?
Here's what affects the price on this route.
Distance
Kansas City is about 800 miles from Atlanta. Central and western Kansas from coastal Georgia is closer to 1,200.
Orders Season
Everyone at Fort Riley and Leavenworth seems to move in June and July. Shipping in the spring or fall usually costs less.
Delivery Area
Kansas City, Wichita, and the bases are easy. Rural western Kansas takes more planning.
Trailer Type
Most cars ride on an open carrier. A covered trailer protects a classic or a new truck from Kansas hail.
Vehicle Size
Pickups and full-size SUVs take more trailer space than sedans, so they cost more to ship.
Gate Access
Base deliveries go smoothest when you've cleared the driver with the visitor center, or you meet outside the gate.
Your Quote Is Your Final Price
We don't quote low and raise it later. Your quote is your final price, and $0 is due at booking.

Before You Ship & After You Arrive
A few Kansas-specific things worth knowing.
Registering in Kansas
New residents have 90 days to title and register at the county treasurer's office. Out-of-state vehicles need a VIN inspection by the Kansas Highway Patrol. Check ksrevenue.gov for current requirements.
Moving With the Military
We ship for soldiers, officers, and families moving from Fort Stewart, Fort Gordon, and Hunter Army Airfield to Fort Riley, Fort Leavenworth, and McConnell AFB.
Base Housing Pickups
Fort Stewart and Fort Gordon have rules for commercial trucks. We'll work with you on a gate or a nearby meeting spot.
Georgia Pickups
Busy metro Atlanta apartment complexes, gated subdivisions with HOA truck rules, and the narrow historic streets of downtown Savannah can keep a big carrier off your street. If so, the driver will set up a nearby meeting spot, usually a lot just off I-285, I-75, I-85, I-20, I-16, or I-95.
