Shipping a Car From Maine to Colorado
Portland to Denver is about 2,085 miles, across New York to Chicago and west on I-80. Fort Collins is around 2,025, Boulder about 2,080, Breckenridge close to 2,170, Bangor to Denver roughly 2,215, and Lewiston to Grand Junction around 2,365. Most cars arrive 5 to 8 days after pickup.
Maine to Colorado moves are usually job relocations to Denver and Boulder, outdoors-minded families heading to the Front Range, and students at CU and Colorado State. Plenty of trucks run I-80, but mountain deliveries take real planning. Winter on both ends is the biggest thing to work around.

Timing
When to Ship Maine to Colorado
Winter on both ends sets the timing.
Maine Winter
From December through March, a nor'easter can delay a Maine pickup a day or more. If one is in the forecast, we'll plan around it.
Mountain Winter
From November through April, chain laws on I-70 can hold ski-town deliveries a day or more.
Summer
The busiest time for moves. Book two to three weeks ahead.
Early Fall
September is usually the smoothest window.
Pricing
How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Car From Maine to Colorado?
Here's what decides the price on a trip to Colorado.
Distance
At 2,000 to 2,350 miles, this is a long cross-country haul.
Front Range vs. Mountains
Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins come first. Ski towns add mountain driving.
Pickup Location
Southern Maine is easiest. Bangor and northern Maine add more distance.
Vehicle Size
Pickups and SUVs take more trailer space than a sedan.
Open or Enclosed
Enclosed keeps winter road grime off a nicer car.
Lead Time
Two or three weeks of notice gives us the best shot at your date.

Before You Ship & After You Arrive
What to know before your car heads to Colorado.
Registering in Colorado
New residents register with their county motor vehicle office. Out-of-state vehicles need a VIN verification, and the Denver and Boulder areas require emissions testing for many vehicles. Check dmv.colorado.gov for current requirements.
Ski Town Deliveries
Steep, winding roads in Breckenridge, Vail, and other mountain towns aren't safe for a loaded carrier. Plan to meet at a lot in town.
Denver Suburbs
Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock, and many newer neighborhoods have HOA truck rules. The driver will meet you at the entrance.
Portland and Southern Maine Pickups
Portland's Old Port, Munjoy Hill, and the West End have narrow, steep streets and tight parking that a full-size car hauler can't get through. South Portland, Scarborough, Westbrook, and Saco are usually easier. If your street won't work, the driver will meet you at a nearby lot off I-295 or the Maine Turnpike.

It depends on your exact addresses, the vehicle, open or enclosed, and the season. Request a quote for a final price, good for 7 days.
Does Colorado require an emissions test?
In the Denver and Boulder areas, yes, for most vehicles. Cars from out of state also need a VIN verification.
Can you deliver to a ski condo?
Usually to a lot in town or at the resort base, since many mountain roads are too steep for a loaded carrier.
Should I ship or drive from Maine to Colorado?
Driving takes four long days. For most people shipping costs about the same and saves 2,000 miles of wear.
Can you ship a car from Colorado back to Maine?
Yes. Request a quote with your Colorado pickup address and your Maine delivery address. Every shipment is door-to-door.
Is my car insured during transport?
Yes. Every carrier we work with must carry active cargo insurance. Your car's condition is recorded on the Bill of Lading at pickup and checked again at delivery. Personal items left in the car aren't covered.
Do I have to pay upfront?
No. There's $0 due at booking. Once a carrier is assigned, you can pay a deposit and the balance to the driver at delivery by cash or check, or pay in full at that point.
