Shipping a Car From Idaho to Oregon
Boise to Portland is about 430 miles, west on I-84 through the Blue Mountains and down the Columbia River Gorge. Bend is closer to 320, and Eugene is around 530. Most moves are a single long day of driving.
Idaho and Oregon are next-door neighbors, and a lot of Oregonians have moved east to the Treasure Valley for lower housing costs, more space, and sunnier winters. Plenty still have family in Portland and the Willamette Valley. We also ship for students at Oregon and Oregon State, Bend transplants, and people buying cars from Portland dealers.
Door-to-door, a final-price quote, and $0 due at booking.

Timing
When to Ship Idaho to Oregon
Mountain passes and the Gorge set the calendar.
Blue Mountains Winter
Snow and ice on I-84 over Cabbage Hill and through the Gorge can close the interstate from November through March.
Santiam and Willamette Passes
Winter Bend deliveries can take extra time when the passes need chains.
Wildfire Season
Late summer smoke and fires can close roads in central Oregon. Drivers reroute when needed.
Summer
Usually the smoothest time to ship.
Pricing
How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Car From Idaho to Oregon?
Short routes are priced a little differently.
Distance
Most of Oregon is 300 to 550 miles from the Treasure Valley. Southern Oregon from eastern Idaho is closer to 700.
Short-Haul Pricing
Shorter trips cost more per mile than cross-country ones, since loading and unloading take the same time either way.
A Busy Corridor
I-84 between Boise and Portland carries heavy truck traffic, which keeps prices competitive.
Delivery Area
Portland suburbs and Bend are easy. Some Portland neighborhoods and coastal roads need a meeting spot.
Vehicle Size
Pickups and full-size SUVs take more trailer space than sedans, so they cost more to ship.
Date Flexibility
A flexible window helps when winter weather closes I-84.

Before You Ship & After You Arrive
A few Oregon-specific things worth knowing.
Registering in Oregon
New residents have 30 days to title and register with Oregon DMV. Out-of-state vehicles need a VIN inspection, and the Portland and Medford areas require DEQ emissions testing. Check oregon.gov/odot/dmv for current requirements.
Bought a Car in Portland?
Portland has a big used-car market. We can pick up from a dealer or private seller and bring it home to Idaho.
Bend and Coast Deliveries
Mountain passes into Bend and narrow coastal roads can be tough for a big carrier, especially in winter. The driver may meet you at a lot in town.
Idaho Pickups
Long gravel ranch lanes, steep mountain driveways in places like Ketchum and McCall, and HOA truck rules in newer Treasure Valley subdivisions can keep a big carrier off your street. If so, the driver will set up a nearby meeting spot, usually a lot just off I-84, I-15, I-86, I-90, or US-95.

FAQ
Idaho to Oregon Car Shipping FAQs
How long does it take to ship a car from Idaho to Oregon?
Usually 1 to 3 days after pickup. Boise to Portland is often next-day.
How much does it cost to ship a car from Idaho to Oregon?
It depends on your exact pickup and delivery locations, vehicle size, open or enclosed transport, and the season. Request a free quote and you'll get a final price, good for 7 days.
Why ship a car such a short distance?
If you're moving two cars, buying a car in Portland, or don't want to drive the Gorge in winter, shipping saves a round trip.
Does Oregon require an emissions test?
Only in the Portland and Medford areas. Out-of-state vehicles also need a VIN inspection when you title them.
Can you ship a car to a student at Oregon or Oregon State?
Yes. Give us the campus or apartment address and the move-in date, and we'll plan around it.
Can you ship a car from Oregon back to Idaho?
Yes. Request a quote with your Oregon pickup address and your Idaho delivery address. It's door-to-door either way.
Is my car insured during transport?
Yes. Every carrier we work with is required to carry active cargo insurance. Your car's condition is documented on the Bill of Lading at pickup and checked again at delivery. Personal items left in the vehicle aren't covered.
Do I have to pay upfront?
No. There's $0 due at booking. Once a carrier is assigned, you can pay a deposit and the rest to the driver at delivery by cash or check, or pay in full at that point.
