Shreveport to Bend is around 2,180, Salem about 2,320, Baton Rouge to Portland close to 2,510, New Orleans to Portland roughly 2,585, and Eugene around 2,650. Most cars arrive 6 to 9 days after pickup.

The Route

How Cars Get From Louisiana to Oregon

Most carriers head west on I-20 to Dallas, up through Amarillo to Denver, and across Wyoming on I-80 to Salt Lake City. From there, I-84 runs northwest through Boise and down the Columbia River Gorge into Portland. Salem and Eugene are south on I-5.

Bend and Central Oregon are usually reached from Boise across the high desert. Some loads come up I-5 through California instead, which is often the better route to Medford and Southern Oregon.

Timing

When to Ship Louisiana to Oregon

Mountain passes and long lead times set the timing.

Mountain Winter

From November through March, snow in Wyoming and on the Blue Mountains can hold a truck a day or more.

Summer

The busiest time for moves. Book two to three weeks ahead.

Hurricane Season

From June through November, a Gulf storm can delay a Louisiana pickup a day or more. If one is in the forecast, we'll reschedule around it.

Fall

September and October are usually the smoothest window.

Pricing

How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Car From Louisiana to Oregon?

Here's what decides the price on a cross-country trip like this.

Distance

At 2,150 to 2,650 miles, this is one of the longest trips we run.

Portland vs. the Rest of Oregon

Portland is the main stop. Eugene, Bend, and Southern Oregon take more planning.

City Streets

Many Portland neighborhoods have narrow streets and tight parking.

Vehicle Size

Pickups and SUVs take more trailer space than a sedan.

Open or Enclosed

Enclosed keeps winter road grime off a nicer car.

Lead Time

Two or three weeks of notice gives us the best shot at your date.

Good to Know

Before You Ship & After You Arrive

What to know before your car heads to Oregon.

Registering in Oregon

New residents have 30 days to title and register with Oregon DMV. Out-of-state vehicles need a VIN inspection, and the Portland and Medford areas require DEQ emissions testing. Check oregon.gov/odot/dmv for current requirements.

Portland Neighborhoods

Narrow streets in the West Hills and close-in neighborhoods can't fit a carrier. Pick a nearby lot or a wider street.

Coast and Mountain Homes

Steep, winding roads to the coast and mountain properties aren't safe for a loaded carrier. Plan to meet in town.

Shreveport, Monroe, and North Louisiana Pickups

Shreveport, Monroe, Ruston, and Alexandria pickups run off I-20 and I-49. Most streets work fine, though older neighborhoods and rural roads can be tight. Fewer trucks pass through North Louisiana than New Orleans, so a flexible pickup window helps.

The Process

How It Works

Simple, transparent, and nothing due until a carrier is on the way.

  1. 1

    Request Your Quote

Give us your Louisiana pickup address, your Oregon delivery address, the vehicle, and your dates. You get a final price, good for 7 days.

  2. 2

    Book With $0 Down

Nothing is due when you book. We match your vehicle with a vetted carrier that has room on a truck headed to Oregon.

  3. 3

    Carrier Dispatched

Once a carrier is assigned, a deposit (or full payment, if you prefer) secures your spot. The driver inspects your car with you at pickup and notes its condition on the Bill of Lading.

  4. 4

    Delivered & Inspected

Look your car over with the driver in Oregon, sign off, and pay any remaining balance directly to the driver by cash or check.
