California to Rhode Island Auto Transport
Shipping a Car From California to Rhode Island
Los Angeles to Providence is about 3,015 miles, from the biggest state on the West Coast to the smallest state in the country. It's a full week of driving that ends on narrow old New England streets.
The Navy connection is strong here. Sailors and officers move from San Diego to Naval Station Newport for the Naval War College and Officer Training Command, and undersea warfare engineers move between San Diego and the Navy's research center in Newport. We also ship for students at Brown, RISD, and URI, and Californians buying a place on the coast.
Door-to-door, a final-price quote, and $0 due at booking.

The Route
How Cars Get From California to Rhode Island
Southern California loads take I-40 and I-44 to St. Louis, then I-70 to Pennsylvania. From Harrisburg they cross to Scranton and take I-84 through the Hudson Valley and Hartford into Rhode Island. Bay Area loads take I-80 most of the way across and join the same path.
Newport and Aquidneck Island are across the Pell or Mount Hope bridges. Westerly and South County are along I-95. Block Island means a ferry from Point Judith, so we deliver to the terminal and you take it from there.

Timing
When to Ship California to Rhode Island
Navy orders, students, and summer in Newport shape this route.
Summer PCS Season
Summer is the busiest time for Naval Station Newport moves. Book as soon as you have orders.
Late August Move-In
Brown, RISD, PC, and URI all move in at once. Ship early so the car is there when you are.
Summer in Newport
Newport and the beaches are packed on summer weekends. Weekday deliveries go much smoother.
Winter
Snow in the Rockies and Midwest, plus nor'easters in New England, can slow trucks from December through March.
Pricing
How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Car From California to Rhode Island?
This is a long route to a small state. Here's what affects the price.
Distance
At roughly 3,000 miles, this is one of the longest routes we run.
Delivery Area
Suburban addresses are simple. Providence's East Side, Federal Hill, and older Newport streets usually need a meeting spot.
Season
Summer and late August are the busiest. Fall and spring are usually cheaper.
Open or Enclosed
Open is the standard. Enclosed protects a nicer car coast to coast.
Vehicle Size
Pickups and full-size SUVs take more trailer space than sedans, so they cost more to ship.
Date Flexibility
Many Rhode Island loads are combined with Boston and Connecticut stops. A flexible window helps.
Your Quote Is Your Final Price
We don't quote low and then come back asking for more. Your quote is your final price, and $0 is due at booking.
