California to Florida Auto Transport
Shipping a Car From California to Florida
I-10 starts at the beach in Santa Monica and ends in Jacksonville, so this is one of the few cross-country routes that's a single interstate. Los Angeles to Jacksonville is about 2,370 miles, and Miami is closer to 2,700. It's five or six long days of driving.
Florida is one of the top destinations for people leaving California, with no state income tax and a lower cost of living. We also ship for sailors moving from San Diego to NAS Jacksonville and Mayport, airmen heading to Eglin and MacDill, retirees moving to the Gulf Coast, and families relocating to Orlando and Tampa.
Door-to-door, a final-price quote, and $0 due at booking.

The Route
How Cars Get From California to Florida
This is an I-10 route almost from start to finish. Trucks leave Los Angeles through Palm Springs and Phoenix, cross West Texas to San Antonio and Houston, then run along the Gulf through Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama into the Florida Panhandle. San Diego loads join on I-8.
Jacksonville deliveries stay on I-10 to the Atlantic. Tampa, Orlando, and Southwest Florida loads turn south on I-75 at Lake City. Miami and the Keys are the longest legs, often another full day past Orlando.

Timing
When to Ship California to Florida
Desert heat and Gulf storms both shape this route.
Hurricane Season
June through November. Much of I-10 runs along the Gulf, so a storm can pause trucks in Texas, Louisiana, or Florida.
Fall Snowbird Season
October through December, southbound trucks fill up. Book a couple of weeks ahead.
Summer Heat
The desert stretch from Palm Springs to El Paso runs 110°F and up. Make sure the battery and tires are in good shape.
Winter & Spring
Usually smooth. I-10 stays mostly clear of snow, which makes this a reliable winter cross-country route.
Pricing
How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Car From California to Florida?
Here's what makes the biggest difference in price on this route.
Distance
LA to Pensacola is about 2,010 miles. Miami is closer to 2,700.
Season
Fall snowbird demand into Florida pushes prices. Spring and summer are often easier, outside of storms.
Delivery Area
Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville are busy markets. The Keys, barrier islands, and gated communities take more planning.
Open or Enclosed
Open is the standard. Enclosed keeps desert dust and Gulf storms off a nicer car.
Vehicle Size
Pickups and full-size SUVs take more trailer space than sedans, so they cost more to ship.
Date Flexibility
I-10 is a busy truck corridor. A flexible window helps us catch one already headed east.
Your Quote Is Your Final Price
Cross-country quotes are where bait-and-switch pricing shows up most. We don't do it. Your quote is your final price, with $0 due at booking.

Before You Ship & After You Arrive
A few Florida-specific things worth knowing.
Registering in Florida
New residents must register within 10 days of establishing residency, and out-of-state vehicles need a VIN verification. Check flhsmv.gov for current requirements.
Moving With the Military
We ship for sailors, airmen, and families moving from San Diego, Travis, Edwards, and other California bases to NAS Jacksonville, Mayport, Eglin, Hurlburt Field, and MacDill.
Gated Communities and Condos
Many Florida communities and condo buildings have gate and truck rules. Share them when you book, or pick a nearby lot.
Plan for a Gap
With 5 to 9 days in transit, you'll probably arrive first. A rental or rideshare covers the gap.

It depends on your exact pickup and delivery locations, vehicle size, open or enclosed transport, and the season. Request a free quote and you'll get a final price, good for 7 days.
Does hurricane season affect California to Florida shipping?
It can. A big stretch of I-10 runs along the Gulf, so storms can delay trucks. Keep your dates a little flexible from June through November.

Yes. We regularly ship for sailors and families moving to NAS Jacksonville and Mayport. Give us your report date when you request a quote.
Is it cheaper to ship or drive from California to Florida?
Driving 2,400 miles means five days, four hotel nights, gas, and food. For most people, shipping costs about the same or less.

Yes. Request a quote with your Florida pickup address and your California delivery address. Every shipment is door-to-door.
Is my car insured during transport?
Yes. Every carrier we work with must carry active cargo insurance. Your car's condition is recorded on the Bill of Lading at pickup and checked again at delivery. Personal items left in the car aren't covered.

No. There's $0 due at booking. Once a carrier is assigned, you can pay a deposit and the balance to the driver at delivery by cash or check, or pay in full at that point.
