Arizona to New Mexico Auto Transport
Shipping a Car From Arizona to New Mexico
Phoenix to Albuquerque is about 470 miles on the interstate. It's one long day of driving through Flagstaff, Gallup, and the high desert. Tucson to Las Cruces is even shorter, about 275 miles on I-10.
New Mexico has a lot of military and federal work, and that drives much of this route. We ship for airmen going to Kirtland, Holloman, and Cannon AFB, soldiers and civilians heading to White Sands Missile Range, and engineers taking jobs at Sandia and Los Alamos. We also move cars for students at UNM and NMSU and for families moving between neighboring states.
Door-to-door, a final-price quote, and $0 due at booking.

The Route
How Cars Get From Arizona to New Mexico
Albuquerque and Santa Fe loads usually go north on I-17 to Flagstaff and east on I-40 through Gallup. There's a shorter route on US-60 through the White Mountains, but it's slow two-lane road, so most carriers stick to the interstate.
Southern New Mexico is an I-10 run from Tucson to Las Cruces, with I-25 north to Socorro and Truth or Consequences. Alamogordo and Holloman are over the mountains on US-70. Farmington and the Four Corners come in from the west on US-160 and US-64.
Along the Way
- Phoenix → Flagstaff~145 mi

Timing
When to Ship Arizona to New Mexico
Short route, but the weather and a few big events still matter.
Winter on I-40
Flagstaff and the Continental Divide near Gallup get snow. Winter storms can close I-40 for a few hours.
Monsoon Season
July through September, afternoon storms and dust can slow traffic on I-10 and I-40 in both states.
Balloon Fiesta
Albuquerque fills up for the first two weeks of October. Deliveries near the north side go easier outside fiesta dates.
Spring
Wind season in New Mexico, but generally easy to book and quick to deliver.
Pricing
How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Car From Arizona to New Mexico?
This is a short route, so pricing works a little differently.
Distance
Las Cruces is under 300 miles from Tucson. Eastern New Mexico is closer to 700 miles from Phoenix.
Short-Haul Pricing
Short trips cost more per mile than cross-country ones, since loading and unloading take the same time either way.
Delivery Area
Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Las Cruces are on main routes. Taos, the Four Corners, and rural towns take more planning.
Open or Enclosed
Open is the standard. Enclosed is worth it for classic cars and lowriders.
Vehicle Size
Full-size trucks and SUVs take more trailer space than sedans, so they cost more to ship.
Date Flexibility
Lots of trucks pass through Albuquerque on I-40. A flexible day or two helps us catch one.

Before You Ship & After You Arrive
A few New Mexico-specific things worth knowing.
Registering in New Mexico
New residents have 30 days to register with the MVD. Out-of-state vehicles need a VIN inspection, and cars in Bernalillo County (Albuquerque) need an emissions test. Check mvd.newmexico.gov for current requirements.
Moving With the Military
We ship for airmen, soldiers, and civilians moving to Kirtland, Holloman, Cannon, and White Sands Missile Range. Share your report date when you book.
Tribal Land and Rural Deliveries
Many reservation and rural roads are tough for a big carrier. The driver may meet you in the nearest town.
Moving Two Cars?
On a short route like this, shipping one car while you drive the other is often the easiest move.
