Arizona to Virginia Auto Transport
Shipping a Car From Arizona to Virginia
Phoenix to Richmond is about 2,300 miles. Trucks take I-40 most of the way to Knoxville, then follow the Shenandoah and Blue Ridge country into Virginia. Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia are each another couple of hours. It's a four- or five-day drive.
Virginia has more military and federal moves than almost anywhere. We ship cars for sailors heading to Naval Station Norfolk, Marines going from Yuma to Quantico, airmen moving to Langley, and service members and civilians reporting to the Pentagon and Fort Belvoir. We also ship for federal and contractor jobs in Northern Virginia and students at UVA and Virginia Tech.
Door-to-door, a final-price quote, and $0 due at booking.

The Route
How Cars Get From Arizona to Virginia
Most loads take I-40 from Flagstaff through Oklahoma City, Memphis, and Nashville to Knoxville, then I-81 northeast up the Shenandoah Valley. From Roanoke, trucks head east toward Richmond, or continue up I-81 and take I-66 into Northern Virginia.
Hampton Roads is down I-64 from Richmond, through the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, which backs up badly at rush hour. Some carriers bound for the DC suburbs come across on I-70 through Ohio and Maryland instead.

Timing
When to Ship Arizona to Virginia
PCS season and coastal weather shape this route.
Summer PCS Season
May through August is the peak for Navy, Marine, and Pentagon moves. Book as soon as you have orders.
Hurricane Season
June through November can affect Hampton Roads and the Eastern Shore. Keep some slack in your dates.
Mountain Winter
Snow and ice on I-81 and in the Blue Ridge can slow trucks from December through February.
Fall
Usually the easiest time to ship east. Shenandoah leaf season makes the mountains busy on weekends.
Pricing
How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Car From Arizona to Virginia?
Here's what moves the price on this route.
Distance
Southwest Virginia is about 2,000 miles from Phoenix. Hampton Roads runs closer to 2,400.
Delivery Area
Richmond, Roanoke, and the suburbs are easy. Arlington high-rises, Old Town Alexandria, and base housing usually need a meeting spot.
Season
Summer PCS season is the busiest. Fall and winter are usually the best value.
Open or Enclosed
Open is the standard. Enclosed protects a nicer car across 2,300 miles.
Vehicle Size
Full-size trucks and SUVs take more trailer space than sedans, so they cost more to ship.
Date Flexibility
A flexible window lets us catch a truck already heading east.
Your Quote Is Your Final Price
We don't quote low and raise the price after your report date gets close. The price we give you is the price you pay, with $0 due at booking.

Before You Ship & After You Arrive
A few Virginia-specific things worth knowing.
Registering in Virginia
New residents have 30 days to title and register with the Virginia DMV. Virginia requires an annual safety inspection, and cars in Northern Virginia need emissions testing. Active-duty service members may have different rules. Check dmv.virginia.gov.
Moving With the Military
We ship for sailors, Marines, soldiers, airmen, and families moving to Naval Station Norfolk, Oceana, Little Creek, Quantico, Fort Belvoir, Langley, and the Pentagon.
Northern Virginia Deliveries
Apartment towers in Arlington and narrow streets in Old Town are tough for a big carrier. The driver will set up a nearby meeting spot.
Plan for a Gap
With 5 to 8 days in transit, you'll probably get there first. Budget for a week of rental or rideshare.
