Shipping a Car From Arizona to Idaho

Phoenix to Boise is about 1,000 miles north through Las Vegas, St. George, and Salt Lake City. It's two long days, and you trade desert for high desert, then for mountains and real winters.

This has become a popular move. A lot of people are leaving the Phoenix heat for Boise, Meridian, and Nampa, where summers are milder and housing is often cheaper. We also ship cars for people moving north to Coeur d'Alene, airmen heading from Luke or Davis-Monthan to Mountain Home AFB, and students at Boise State and the University of Idaho.

Door-to-door, a final-price quote, and $0 due at booking.

The Route

How Cars Get From Arizona to Idaho

Most trucks head northwest on US-93 to Las Vegas, then up I-15 through St. George and Salt Lake City. Eastern Idaho deliveries to Pocatello and Idaho Falls stay on I-15. Boise and the Treasure Valley are reached on I-84 west from northern Utah. Some carriers cut straight north on US-93 from Las Vegas to Twin Falls.

North Idaho is a much longer trip. Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint sit closer to Spokane than to Boise, and the direct road north through central Idaho is slow, mountainous two-lane highway. Those deliveries take extra lead time.

Along the Way

  • Phoenix → Las Vegas~300 mi
  • Las Vegas → St. George~120 mi
  • St. George → Salt Lake City~300 mi
  • Salt Lake City → Boise~340 mi

Approximate distances. The exact route depends on the carrier's other stops.

Timing

When to Ship Arizona to Idaho

Escaping the heat drives this route, and winter shapes the timing.

Late Spring & Summer

The busiest time to move out of Phoenix, as people beat the heat. Book a week or two ahead.

Winter

Snow can slow I-15 in Utah and I-84 into Idaho, and North Idaho gets real winters. Expect a wider window from November through March.

Monsoon Season

Summer storms and dust can close roads near Phoenix for an hour or two. They rarely delay a pickup long.

Fall

Often the easiest time to ship north. Good weather on both ends and less competition for trucks.

Pricing

How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Car From Arizona to Idaho?

Here's what affects the price on this route.

Distance

Phoenix to Twin Falls is about 800 miles. Coeur d'Alene is closer to 1,400.

Southern vs. North Idaho

The Treasure Valley and eastern Idaho are on the main truck routes. North Idaho and mountain towns take more planning.

Season

Summer demand and winter weather both affect price and timing. Fall is usually smoothest.

Open or Enclosed

Open is the standard. Enclosed keeps desert dust and winter grime off a nicer car.

Vehicle Size

Full-size trucks and SUVs take more trailer space than sedans, so they cost a bit more to ship.

Date Flexibility

A flexible pickup window lets us catch a truck already heading north on I-15.

Good to Know

Before You Ship & After You Arrive

A few Idaho-specific things worth knowing.

Registering in Idaho

Out-of-state vehicles need a VIN inspection before they can be titled in Idaho, and cars registered in Ada or Canyon County may need an emissions test. Check itd.idaho.gov for current rules.

Moving With the Military

We ship vehicles for airmen and families moving from Arizona bases to Mountain Home AFB. Share your report date and we'll plan around it.

Get Winter-Ready

Coming from Phoenix? Boise gets snow, and North Idaho gets a lot of it. Plan for tires and a healthy battery before your first winter.

Arizona Pickups

Many Valley HOAs don't allow big trucks. Share gate codes or a nearby meeting spot when you book.

The Process

How It Works

Simple, transparent, and nothing due until a carrier is on the way.

  1. 1

    Request Your Quote

Give us your Arizona pickup address, your Idaho delivery address, the vehicle, and your dates. You get a final price, good for 7 days.

  2. 2

    Book With $0 Down

Nothing is due when you book. We match your vehicle with a vetted carrier that has room on a truck headed to Idaho.

  3. 3

    Carrier Dispatched

Once a carrier is assigned, a deposit (or full payment, if you prefer) secures your spot. The driver inspects your car with you at pickup and notes its condition on the Bill of Lading.

  4. 4

    Delivered & Inspected

Look your car over with the driver in Idaho, sign off, and pay any remaining balance directly to the driver by cash or check.
