Alabama to Tennessee Auto Transport
Shipping a Car From Alabama to Tennessee
Alabama and Tennessee share a long border, and some of these trips are barely trips at all. Huntsville to Nashville is about 110 miles, and Birmingham to Chattanooga is around 145. Even Mobile to Nashville is only about 450.
So why ship? Because the drive usually isn't the hard part. It's moving two cars at once, flying ahead for a new job in Nashville, or not wanting to sit in I-24 traffic with a loaded car. We ship plenty of cars for soldiers and families at Fort Campbell, engineers moving between Huntsville and Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, students at Vanderbilt, UT, and Belmont, and workers at Tennessee's auto plants.
Door-to-door, a final-price quote, and $0 due at booking.

The Route
How Cars Get From Alabama to Tennessee
Nashville deliveries ride I-65 straight north through Cullman and Decatur and across the state line. Chattanooga and Knoxville are reached on I-59 and I-75 out of Birmingham. Memphis is a straight shot west on I-22.
Fort Campbell and Clarksville are about an hour northwest of Nashville on I-24. Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the Smokies are past Knoxville on winding roads where the driver may need to meet you somewhere wider. The biggest wild card on this route is Nashville traffic, so the driver will call ahead with a realistic arrival time.

Timing
When to Ship Alabama to Tennessee
It's a short trip, but Nashville's calendar and Smokies season still matter.
Nashville Event Weeks
CMA Fest in June, big concerts, and NFL Sundays clog downtown. Ask us about timing if you're delivering near downtown Nashville.
Spring Storms
Severe weather is common in both states in spring. Carriers pull over for tornado warnings, which can shift a pickup a day.
Summer PCS & Smokies Season
Fort Campbell's busiest moving months overlap with peak tourist traffic near the Smokies. Book a week or two ahead.
Winter
Snow is rare in the valleys, but ice and mountain snow around Knoxville and the Plateau can slow trucks for a day.
Pricing
How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Car From Alabama to Tennessee?
Short routes cost less overall, but these things still move the price.
Distance
Huntsville to Nashville is barely two hours. Mobile to Knoxville is most of a day.
Date Flexibility
Many trucks on this short lane are passing through on longer runs. A flexible window helps us catch one.
Delivery Area
Nashville, Memphis, Chattanooga, and Knoxville are easy to schedule. Mountain cabins and rural East Tennessee take more planning.
Open or Enclosed
Open is the affordable standard. Enclosed is there for classics and high-end cars.
Vehicle Size
Full-size trucks and SUVs take more trailer space than sedans, so they cost a bit more.
Number of Vehicles
Moving two cars at once is common on this route. Tell us and we'll quote them together.

Before You Ship & After You Arrive
A few Tennessee-specific things worth knowing.
Registering in Tennessee
New residents generally have 30 days to register at their county clerk's office. Tennessee no longer requires emissions testing for passenger vehicles. Check tn.gov for current requirements.
Moving With the Military
We ship cars for soldiers and families at Fort Campbell and for people moving between Huntsville and Arnold AFB. Give us your report date and we'll plan around it.
Smokies & Cabin Deliveries
Steep, winding roads around Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge usually can't fit a full car carrier. The driver will meet you at a nearby lot.
Two Cars, One Move
Driving two cars even 150 miles means two drivers and a ride back. Shipping one is often the easier move.
