Shipping a Car From Alabama to Washington
This is the longest route we run out of Alabama. Birmingham to Seattle is about 2,700 miles, corner to corner across the country. Driving it takes five or six long days through the Plains, the Rockies, and the Cascades. Nearly everyone on this route ships the car and flies.
There's a real aerospace link here. Boeing has major operations in both Huntsville and the Puget Sound, and engineers move between them. We also ship cars for soldiers and families heading to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, sailors at Naval Base Kitsap and NAS Whidbey Island, airmen at Fairchild AFB near Spokane, and people moving for tech jobs in Seattle and Bellevue.
Door-to-door, a final-price quote, and $0 due until a carrier is assigned.

The Route
How Cars Get From Alabama to Washington
The most common path heads through Kansas City and Denver, crosses Wyoming on I-80, then follows I-84 through Boise and up the Columbia River. Puget Sound deliveries cross the Cascades on I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass or come up I-5 from Portland.
Spokane and Eastern Washington are often reached on I-90 across Montana instead. Car carriers don't ride the ferries, so deliveries to Bainbridge, Vashon, the San Juans, or Whidbey's south end usually meet you on the mainland side.

Timing
When to Ship Alabama to Washington
On the longest route we run, mountain passes matter most.
Mountain Passes
Snoqualmie Pass, the Blue Mountains, and Wyoming's I-80 all see winter closures and chain rules. Expect a wider window from November through March.
Summer PCS Season
The busiest time for moves to JBLM, Kitsap, and Whidbey. Request your quote 2 to 3 weeks before your report date.
Wildfire Season
Late-summer fires in Eastern Washington and Oregon can close highways for a day or two.
Spring & Fall
Usually the best balance of open passes and truck availability on this long route.
Pricing
How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Car From Alabama to Washington?
Distance is only part of it. Here's what affects the price on this route.
Distance
Spokane is about 2,400 miles from Birmingham. Seattle is closer to 2,700, and Mobile adds more.
Fewer Direct Trucks
Not many carriers run straight from Alabama to Washington. A flexible pickup window helps us find one heading to the Northwest.
Puget Sound Access
Seattle's hills and dense neighborhoods, and island addresses, often need a nearby meeting spot.
Season
Winter passes add time and risk. Summer adds demand. Spring and fall are usually best.
Open or Enclosed
Open is the affordable standard. Enclosed protects your car across 2,700 miles of weather and road debris.
Vehicle Size
Full-size trucks and SUVs take more trailer space than sedans, so they cost more to ship.
Your Quote Is Your Final Price
Coast-to-coast routes are where low-ball quotes fall apart. We quote what it actually takes, and that's the price you pay, with $0 due at booking.

Before You Ship & After You Arrive
A few Washington-specific things worth knowing.
Registering in Washington
New residents generally have 30 days to title and register through a Washington vehicle licensing office. Washington no longer requires emissions testing. Check dol.wa.gov for current requirements.
Moving With the Military
We ship vehicles for soldiers at JBLM, sailors at Kitsap and Whidbey Island, and airmen at Fairchild AFB. Share your report date and we'll plan around it.
Islands & Ferries
Car carriers don't use the ferries. If you live on an island, plan to meet the driver on the mainland side and take your car across yourself.
Plan for a Gap
With 6 to 10 days in transit, you'll almost certainly arrive first. Budget for a rental or rideshare for the first week.
